Meghan Markle has allegedly banned staff from parking next to her house

Despite the fact they’re two prominent members of the Royal Family, Meghan and Harry don’t really enjoy being in the spotlight. That’s certainly the impression we’ve been getting recently, particularly following the birth of their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. They understandably have their reasons for living more privately, what with Harry’s tense relationship with the media, and Meghan’s constant criticism from them. However, it’s not just the press that these two are trying to keep away – it’s their staff too.
Reports have emerged suggesting that Meghan no longer wants her own workers to park by her house. As requests go, this seems like a bit extreme, especially given these people are there to help her out. What’s more, it doesn’t help improve the Duchess of Sussex’s reputation, which is seemingly already in tatters with many fans of the royals. People have begun leaving their jobs at Meghan’s side, and it’s gotten people talking about how she treats her workers. Is she really a dictator, though, or is there more to her than meets the eye?

Talk of the town

Whenever something happens in the Royal Family, whether it be a wedding or birth, it always receives plenty of attention. Given Meghan’s had both of these in the space of a year, it’s perhaps not too surprising that the press has yet to grow bored of her.

However, the media’s focus has been less on the good things in her life, and more on the fact she’s apparently not the woman we think she is.

Moving house

The issue around the parking spot started up following the couple’s move to Frogmore Cottage. They left Kensington Palace for the Windsor residence in early 2019 as they prepared for the arrival of their baby boy. The move came as something of a shock to the press because the duo had been hotly tipped to remain in London.

They were supposedly set to move in next door to William and Kate when the news broke. Naturally, people took this to mean that the rumored feud between the duchesses was indeed a thing, although neither woman came forward to admit that.

Coming and going

Much like other royal estates, it’s possible for the public to visit the estate where Frogmore Cottage is based. Meghan and Harry’s new residence is located on the grounds of Windsor Castle which attracts visitors in the thousands. Sports like golf and cricket are regularly played here, and their presence has never been an issue before.

However, that’s all changed now the royal couple has moved in. Why? It seems there’s a parking lot on the grounds which members of the Royal Household Golf Club use. However, said parking lot overlooks Frogmore Cottage, something the Duchess isn’t too happy about.

No longer allowed

With the parking lot being so close to their new house, Meghan felt uneasy about people leaving their cars there. She didn’t want visitors to use it as an excuse to spy on her and her family without getting in trouble.

So, according to The Sun newspaper in the United Kingdom, she told her staff they were strictly forbidden from parking there.

Uneasy

Meghan was probably aware that it was a big ask, but she was more concerned about the privacy of her loved ones. Staff might have been using this parking lot for years, but things were different now the Sussex’s were there to stay.
Uneasy

Meghan has been launched into a crazy Royal life, where you have to constantly be watching what you do and it seems this is something that has made her rather paranoid.

A meager compromise

Understandably, this change riled some people up, mainly because the next closest parking lot was a mile away. They’d have to get to work earlier than usual and walk all that way just so they could do their job.

This parking lot wasn’t even free, meaning staff would be expected to pay £10 ($13) every day they were at Windsor Castle.

Parking Permit

Although the Royal Family were reportedly willing to get permits for some workers, they weren’t prepared to buy them for everyone. So, unless you were someone that the Royals favored, you had to foot the bill all by yourself.
Parking Permit

The parking scandal has been leaked many times with the same question arising, why won’t the Royal’s allow their staff to park for free. This is especially annoying to the staff since they now cannot park somewhere where they have paid to do so!

Is it their fault?

In an attempt to cover the couple’s backs, a senior source at Windsor revealed that it wasn’t actually Meghan and Harry who made this decision.

Apparently, it was the superintendent at Windsor Castle instead.

Feathers

Of course, most people refused to believe this, especially given the timing. Why was parking there now such an issue when people had been doing it for years without a problem. It was only once the Sussex’s arrived that everything started changing.
Feathers

The public knew fort he beginning that Meghan would be ruffling a few feathers and it seems that she is certainly not intimidated by the Royal family, as she still continues to firmly put her feet on the Royal ground.

Bearing a grudge

Ever since she got engaged to Harry, Meghan’s been under the microscope. People have scrutinized everything they possibly can about the Duchess, and it’s not done great things for her reputation.

People have spoken out about Meghan’s attitude, how she treats her staff and what her real reasons are for bagging the Prince.

Changing Times

Unfortunately, this incident with the parking lot has only made things worse. Those affected by the sudden change reportedly now call the Duchess of Sussex NIMBY, as in Not In Meghan’s Back Yard. It’s safe to say they’re taking the parking lot issue to heart.
Changing Times

Sources have said that it has become such a big deal and many of the staff members are stuck in their ways, and with the Royals, nothing ever changes, since they constantly have to go along with protocol and traditions.

Only the beginning

It appears that people are afraid of what this change might signify. They might only be removing parking privileges now.

But how long will it be before sports are banned on the grounds as well?

Moving Place

If Meghan and Harry really want privacy in their new home, they’re not going to be happy about people playing golf or cricket in their backyard. While we hope they don’t keep making changes, there’s no knowing what the future holds.
Moving Place

We are not too sure if the married couple and their new addition will want to stay there. One thing is for sure, they would need a top-secret estate to stay completely out of the public eye.

Supporting their decision

Of course, not everyone is against the decision to change parking privileges. As with anything the royals do, there are always some people who support them and attempt to justify their actions.

These fans understand that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex want their privacy, and believe their demands aren’t unreasonable now they’ve got a child. Plus, the Royal Family has owned Frogmore for years, so they have every right to change what they want.

Pressures of the press

It’s believed Meghan and Harry wouldn’t have to go to such extremes with their privacy if it weren’t for the press.

People are obsessed with the Royals, so the media does everything it possibly can to get photos of them.

Royal Rules

Now that the duo has a child, interest in the couple is greater than ever. It doesn’t help that they’re shielding Archie from the spotlight, making the paparazzi more desperate than usual for a picture.

For Royals, there are strict rules set to the press and they are not allowed to invade a Royals privacy. The only pictures allowed to be taken of those that are scheduled by appointment.

It’s now or never

Given the Duchess of Sussex was highly speculated to give a home birth, it’s not surprising she wanted some privacy around Frogmore Cottage.

A lot of people weren’t happy she was forgoing the Lindo Wing, especially as this meant she wasn’t going to show off the baby a few hours after he was born. Snapping a shot from the parking lot may have been the press’ only opportunity to get a first look at the baby.

Going against the grain

Meghan giving birth at home isn’t exactly something that’s in line with current royal traditions. The Queen might have done it back in the day, but that was quite a long time ago now. Of course, the Duchess of Sussex has never shown much of a desire to follow the rules.

She seems to enjoy pushing the boundaries and going against the grain, no matter how much drama that may cause. That’s just who she is.

Been here a while

There have been a lot of conspiracy theories around the arrival of Archie. Some of the most popular have suggested that the child arrived long before Harry revealed the good news to the press.

Given the couple’s desire for privacy, it wouldn’t be surprising if they wanted a few weeks alone with their child before announcing him to the public. Of course, this would be all the more reason for changing parking privileges at Frogmore.

Not the only one

It’s not just Meghan who’s been breaking rules in the Royal Family. Harry has done things that the monarchy doesn’t approve of, such as kissing his wife or holding her hand. Royals aren’t supposed to engage in public displays of affection, so the Duke of Sussex’s actions won’t have gone down too well.

Of course, Harry has always been somewhat rebellious, so it’s not too shocking that he’s been disobeying royal code on numerous occasions.

Jumping ship

While the Royal Family are pretty much stuck with Meghan and Harry, whether they do what they’re told or not, their staff can leave whenever they want. That’s perhaps why several people who work for the Duchess of Sussex have already jumped ship since she got married.

Melissa Toubati is one of the women who gave up her job, with the pressure reportedly getting to be too much for her. She only managed six months.

Another one bites the dust

Losing her personal assistant was probably hard for Meghan, so we expect she was grateful when Amy Pickerill came along and picked up the slack. Unfortunately, much like her predecessor, Amy decided that working for Meghan wasn’t what she wanted out of life.

Although she apparently left on good terms, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the Duchess keeps losing staff. She can’t continue having people quitting on her when she needs them most.

Duchess Difficult

With all the controversy surrounding how Meghan supposedly treats her staff, she’s apparently been gifted a less than pleasant nickname. It’s reported that she’s referred to as Duchess Difficult because she continually makes demands of people wherever she is.

These demands go as far as her asking for her staff to do something about the smell at St. George’s Chapel. She apparently didn’t want the venue smelling musty when she walked down the aisle last year.

Blame it on the boy

If Meghan has been more demanding recently, that may be down to the baby. Before she gave birth, the Duchess was apparently having difficulty sleeping, with the child waking her up at 4:30 every morning.

Things probably haven’t gotten any better now that Archie is here, and it may be a while before she gets a proper night’s sleep again. Anyone who’s ever had kids before probably understands how much they can affect your mood.

Put in her place

One person who supposedly isn’t a big fan of Meghan’s demanding behavior is her sister-in-law. The two women have reportedly been feuding for months now, and sources suggest their relationship only got worse when Meghan acted out of line.

The Duchess of Sussex was apparently rude towards some of Kate’s staff, prompting her sister-in-law to lose her nerve. She wanted Meghan to understand she had no right to talk to any of her workers that way.

Distancing themselves

Although some royal supporters are understanding of Harry and Meghan’s desire for privacy, others a little confused by their change of tune. At one point, it seemed like the duo were more intent on building bridges with the public more than any of their royal relatives.

However, they’ve now become incredibly distant and seem to want little to do with their people. Changing the parking privileges at Windsor Castle only made things worse for them.

She’s not all bad

While there has been lots of negative talk about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex is far from a villain. She has her downsides, just like anyone, and she’s undoubtedly one of the monarchy’s most controversial figures.

However, love her or hate her, you can’t deny she does good sometimes. For example, when it came to the arrival of Archie, she asked people to give money to charity rather than spending it on a baby gift.

Going public

This, along with other announcements, came courtesy of the couple’s new Instagram account. The page debuted in April 2019, presumably around the time that Meghan and Harry settled into life at Frogmore Cottage.

Now that they were no longer at Kensington Palace, it seemed fitting that the duo should have their own social media feed to keep the public in the know. So far, it’s been used to wish relatives happy birthday and announce Archie’s arrival.

Watching and waiting

When the Instagram account went live, a lot of people turned to it in the hopes a birth announcement was coming. They figured the timing of everything was too coincidental, and that the baby would arrive any day.

Of course, it was around a month before Archie actually appeared on the scene, by which point the public was at the end of their rope waiting for something to happen. May 6th couldn’t have come quick enough.
