30 Inspiring 70’s Decor Trends That Are Making A Comeback

The 1970s was a decade full of groovy patterns, and out of this world designs. While these designs might seem new to many of us, they are actually a retro throwback. People of a certain vintage will recognize these well. Do you have any of these in your home?

Carved Hand Chairs

These wooden hand chairs quickly rose to popularity when an artist named Pedro Freideberg debuted his design. The concept of sitting in a giant hand appealed to many hippies, and most people hand one in their living rooms.

In the present day, these chairs are once more beginning to pop-up in people’s living rooms. Most of them have been painted white, for an updated take on the classic. Have a look on social media, and you will see this is the next retro must have item.

Macrame Owls

Macrame, the art that involves tying knots using various ropes to create images and wall hangings have long been popular. In the 70s though, there was one particular wall hanging that everyone had – macrame owls. Most households did not have just one though, they had many. People would make these themselves, rather than buy them.

You can easily craft your own macrame owl. All you need is some dowling, rope, and a YouTube tutorial which will show you step by step how to create an owl. You can update the classic design by using colored rope, and adding some beads or woven portions.

Bathrooms With Carpet

This has to be one of the strangest trends that people in the 70s had. Instead of using tile, which is easy to clean, people decided to have carpeted bathroom floors. In a way, it makes sense because carpet can easily absorb water, and keep people from slipping. However, if you spill something on the carpet, it is incredibly difficult to clean.

As it is incredibly strong, it can be used for furniture, and for the heels of shoes. In the 1970s, lucite chairs and heels were all the rage and everyone wanted to get their hands on the latest designs.
