Destination Mallorca: The Top Beaches

Mallorca, one of the beautiful Balearic Islands off the coast of Spain features a more subdued atmosphere than some of the other islands Spain is known for such as the infamous Ibiza. It features the old city in Palma de Mallorca and a plethora of beaches for you to cool off of at. If you are looking for a quieter getaway then this is the island for you. So grab a jug of sangria, some sun lotion, and check out these four beaches. Just remember you will want a car to fully experience the island and get to these gems!

Es Calo des Moro Beach
This is just a tiny little beach on the Southern tip of Mallorca. There are no hotels or guesthouses around as it is owned privately but you are allowed to clamber over the rocks to get here. It features the glowing aqua water and rocky cliff faces that protect it. It also has some nice flat stones right offshore that you can lay down on and soak up the sun. Do not forget to bring some water here as there are no beach bars.

Playa de Cala Pi Beach
This beach is also on the Southern tip but it much larger and busier. There are two towering cliffs on either side of it, which add a bit of shade when the heat of the Mediterranean sun gets too much. There is also a small beach bar here, so if you feel like you need a quick drink or a bag of chips then it is perfect.
Cala Banyalbufar Beach
This beach is set down amongst some vineyards. So, if you are in the mood for some wine you can stop off at the wineries and sample their vintages then head on down to the beach for a refreshing dip or a siesta if you need one. This is one of the most picturesque beaches and the water is an emerald green color. It is a bit on the rockier side so just be wary of that when you walk in. You may want to bring a pair of water shoes with you if you are not as comfortable on stone beaches.

Cala Mesquida Beach
This is actually situated in Mesquida Bay on the North Eastern side of the island. It is one of the longer beaches coming in at around six kilometers. It is all white sand and has a lot of beach activities for visitors to partake in. You can rent some equipment and go surfing if the waves are big enough. Or you can simply lounge around with a good book and work on your tan. There is a watchtower here so parts of the beach are watched for added safety.
So get in your car and go on a beach tour of the island, you are sure to find some hidden beaches to relax on!
