Details from Disneyland’s Star Wars project have been leaked and they’re unimaginable

Since 1977 Star Wars has been an incredibly cherished franchise, giving people an entirely new-world concept from the offset. Since then, it’s become a multi-billion dollar business and has a special place in millions of people’s hearts. It’s the kind of franchise that has stood the test of time, not only appealing to a particular era of people but moving on with an entirely new trilogy that has brought forward a completely new era of fans.
People were a bit dubious when Disney got the rights to the Star Wars franchise; worried that the change would also alter the iconic world that fans loved so dearly. However, since then, Disney has worked hard to do right by those fans. It seems as though Disney has been busy working hard on creating every fan’s biggest dream come true; an entire theme park dedicated to the franchise. This is basically what some fans have been hoping for since the original trilogy. It’s taken a while, but it’s now in the middle of being developed, and photos have been released.

Refreshing the franchise

It has been a long time since the Star Wars prequel trilogy had been released. In fact, there were ten years between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith being released and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It’s safe to say people were crazed and excited about the new trilogy which renewed the story for a fresher and younger audience. The movies are more popular than ever before, so there was only one thing that had to be done; an all-immersive experience.

An unprecedented announcement

In the same year that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, Disney announced that it had plans for something exciting. This turned out to be a Star Wars theme park. Not just a new ride or two at Disney World, but an entire park dedicated to the franchise. Disney promised that the park would be like nothing before, and would be an incredibly immersive experience.

They were prepared to go to extreme lengths to make sure fans got what they wanted. Theme parks have had small themed areas, but this one would be explicitly dedicated to Star Wars, or so they claimed.

It’s all about location

With people across the world wanting to get a piece of the action, it’s tough to know where exactly this world should be based. However, it soon became clear that the theme park would be built in two separate places, giving people double the choice.

Of course, it just means that some of the more devoted fans will have no choice but to go to both. The theme parks will be in Orlando and Anaheim, and both promise to provide fans with one of the best experiences they will ever have in their lives. However, there was one question… How long would fans have to wait?

Details were finally released

When something as exciting as this is announced, it’s as if you need every little detail all at once to satisfy the anticipation. Of course, the nature of these announcements is that they tend not to come with a load of details. They let such little information get released it was unbearable for fans everywhere, and they just needed something more.

Plans started to emerge, concept art of what they were planning was being distributed, and descriptions of the rides piqued everyone’s interest. It began to seem as if this could genuinely become the real deal and not just an idea.

The name was released

One of the faces behind the theme park is Scott Trowbridge, whose creative spirit was roped in to supervise this important project. He had the honor of telling the world what this park was going to be called. For fans, it was the first step to this feeling like a reality.

The park is going to be called Galaxy’s Edge and will not be a recreation of any other Star Wars backdrops or settings. Instead, it will be a place called Black Spire Outpost, which is an entirely original conceptualized area for the park. So, fans will be introduced to a totally new Star Wars area.

Construction got underway

There was nothing more exciting than hearing that the park was finally going to be built. However, it was soon going to get tough to keep everything quite so top secret with so many different people visiting the site.

Star Wars fans absolutely couldn’t sit on the information anymore; they needed to see what was going on and we don’t blame them. So, they demanded a sneak peek into how everything was coming along. They got what they wanted.

A piece of the pie

Disney knew how much this meant to people, so they decided they would happily give fans a glimpse into the world they’re building. They released more concept art, but this time, they also provided an up-close peek at something remarkable.

Fans got a good look at a full-scale Imperial AT-AT walker. If this isn’t something to get excited about, we don’t know what is. However, some fans couldn’t leave it there and devised a plan to get a better look at the project.

A closer look

The concept art and pictures just weren’t enough for one Twitter user. He had to get a better look, and he had just the solution. He decided to take his drone out to try and get more photos. He got everything he wanted.

The park was nowhere near finished, but there was a lot that had been completed. Enough to have a good idea about what it was going to look like. This was a massive leap for fans who got an enormous insight into what they were looking forward to.

This incredible find

Of course, the Millenium Falcon would make it somewhere within the park, but this is a whole new level. It’s no toy model, it looks like the real deal. The Falcon is docked in a spaceport, but it’s not just a prop to look awesome.

This entire construction is going to be a ride. So basically, you’ll not only have your breath taken away by the magnificent ship, but you’ll probably have it literally taken away while on a thrilling ride.

That’s not all

That’s not all that we know. It’s more than just a sit-down ride, as this one will test your inner Han Solo and Princess Leia. This flight will require fans to fly the Falcon on their very own mission.

It’s no predetermined set either, the ship will respond to people’s individual performances while on this simulated mission. It will make fans feel as if they’re right in the middle of their favorite movies, feeling like one of their heroes.

They left no stone unturned

The ship’s movements don’t just respond to pointing, swerving, shooting, and so on. It actually responds to what’s going on around it. Obviously, fans will encounter enemy vessels, and if they get attacked bad enough, then the interior will appear damaged and destroyed.

Fans will also come face to face with other creatures within the galaxy and get to marvel at the incredible detail of the Falcon. Every nook and cranny has been designed with meticulous care, looking after the world fans hold dear.

Meet the characters

No doubt that lining up for these incredible rides will take a while, considering thousands of fans will be waiting for the experience. Thankfully, the entire journey to the ride is going to be worth the time too.

While fans are on their way to board the Millenium Falcon, they will get to meet the alien pirate, Hondo Ohnaka. Disney hasn’t just put a plastic prop here, they have actually build a full robotic version of him; he is also the second most complex animatronic Disney has built.

Photos aren’t enough

Of course, seeing a picture of a ride is nothing in comparison to actually experiencing it. The Millenium Falcon will be one of the primary focal points of the park, aside from other popular attractions. However, being the most iconic ship in the franchise, it has a lot to live up to.

Fans have also noticed that it’s not the only ride that was being developed at the time and are seriously excited to see what else Disney has to offer.

Isolating the park

Keeping it immersive is about more than just convincing details on a believable terrain, it’s about making people believe that they could really be in the middle of a Star Wars movie.

This means creators have gone to great lengths to prevent visitors from seeing anything from the outside world. They’ve also shown that they really are jam-packing the park full of Star Wars goodness. Here is an awesome hangar that they have built; the scale seems insane.

Up close and personal

There’s nothing like getting super close to some of the life-size props. Many people have imagined this moment for a long time, even pretending that they’re an X-wing pilot, but this is a whole new level of cool.

Disney has made life-size X-Wing Fighters for people to see. What’s even cooler is they’re taking their immersive experience very seriously. Employees will dress as members of The Resistance and act as if they’re part of the set. It really will be something to remember.

Oga’s Cantina will make your day

If you’re wondering how this all-immersive experience won’t break from the theme when it comes to dining, here’s how. Disney really has delivered some people’s wildest dreams, and one of these ways is by providing the most prolific place for fans to eat.

Oga’s Cantina will blow your mind, with the aliens and music that made it the coolest place to go grab a drink. Now, anyone will be able to experience it for the first time ever.

Some seriously awesome brews

We know what you’re thinking, but what on earth will they serve? Well, while they’ll probably sell the usual cola and lemonade, they also have a few tricks up their sleeves. If you’ve ever wanted a Star Wars themed intergalactic drink, here you go.

They will offer some adult beverages that seem super wacky and a lot of fun. Just take a look at these! It’ll be an incredible experience. Could you ever imagine Obi-Wan Kenobi having one of these drinks?

The droid depot

We did say all immersive, right? Well, one of those aspects also involves having droids around the place. This is an area that people will be able to purchase their own droids, but the fun doesn’t end there.

While people may be able to buy their own BB-8, there’s a twist. These droids will be capable of interacting with other droids around the park. So if you meet someone with a small R2-D2, then they’ll be able to interact with your BB-8!

Fans are super excited

The Star Wars fanbase is incredible, it brings people together from all walks of life, and the hype is something that can never be rivaled. The excitement and anticipation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens absolutely smashed so many box office numbers.
Fans are super excited

This showed just how much fans needed a bit more Star Wars in their life. While they may not ever tire of watching the movies over and over, fresh content is always exciting.

It’s a new era

People are now suggesting that this theme park could possibly even overshadow the popularity of the movies themselves, which might seem like a strange idea. However, it’s a way people can escape to one of their favorite fandoms ever.

This is a new era for Star Wars fans that they probably never thought they would see, but now it’s becoming a reality. People are restless to finally get their tickets and enter this Star Wars wonderland.

Room for expansion

Obviously, these guys haven’t started small. They’ve given fans a dream come true, but it doesn’t have to end there. Because this is a project built by people who love the franchise as much as the next fan, it means a whole load of consistent TLC will be given to the place.

Other people who have helped bring this project to life, including Scott Trowbridge, will also be able to improve and expand this world and the experience with it.

Visitor interaction

We’ve mentioned the word immersive a lot, but part of Disney’s most significant achievements is successful interaction with fans. So one of the coolest parts of this world is that there will probably be a whole load of roaming characters to go and find. At Disneyland, the Stormtroopers are found just wandering around the Star Wars themed rides, but they also have a quirk.

They will march behind any child dressed as Kylo Ren or Darth Vader. How cool is that?

Due to open August 2019

The park is due to open in August 2019, which means fans have waited four years for this project to be completed. Thankfully, they have been able to enjoy the release of the most recent movies in that time too.

The park offers workshops for people to build custom lightsabers, shops that provide resistance supplies, plush intergalactic toys, and so much more. Heads up, though, Disney is already warning people that capacity is limited due to the popularity of the tickets, so best book them soon!
