Disney Unveils Major Revamp for Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris

On the 32nd anniversary of Disneyland Paris, a significant transformation was announced for its Walt Disney Studios Park. Originally opened in 2002 and located opposite the main Disneyland Paris park, this Hollywood-inspired park is set to undergo a complete makeover and will be rebranded as Disney Adventure World. This change is part of a broader two-billion-euro investment aimed at revamping the entire resort, including attractions, hotels, and the Disney Village entertainment district.

Transformative Vision for the Park

The new Disney Adventure World is envisioned to immerse guests into their favorite stories in a uniquely Disney manner. According to statements from park officials, the transformation will shift the park’s focus from showcasing the technical side of film production to offering immersive adventures in celebratory theaters and adventure worlds. These environments will be designed to allow guests to delve deeper into beloved narratives and engage directly with the fantastical elements of Disney storytelling.

New Attractions and Experiences

The transformation will commence this month, starting with the park entrance. The current entrance, a colorful indoor replica soundstage, will be transformed into a vibrant, contemporary open-air movie studio that welcomes guests to a glamorous Hollywood film premiere. Set to reopen in Spring 2025, this entrance will set the stage for the new thematic experiences inside the park.

One of the highlights of the park’s new features will be the World of Frozen. This immersive land, inspired by the popular Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film “Frozen,” promises to bring the enchanting world of Arendelle to life. It will be located next to Adventure Bay, a new 70,000 cubic meter multi-use body of water that will serve as a unique entertainment stage with a 360-degree viewing area.

Additionally, the park will introduce Raiponce Tangled Spin, a family attraction inspired by the Disney Animation movie “Tangled.” These new areas will complement the existing Avengers Campus and Worlds of Pixar, which includes the fan-favorite attraction, Ratatouille: The Adventure.

Enhancing the Guest Experience

The evolution of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World reflects a strategic move towards more immersive experiences. This transition began subtly with the 2007 debut of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and has since evolved into a broader creative vision that includes overhauling 90% of the original park. This expansion will transform Walt Disney Studios Park from a half-day to a full-day destination, significantly enhancing its appeal and capacity.

Upcoming Entertainment and Renovations

The transformation is not just limited to attractions. The announcement also highlighted the addition of two new shows. The first, Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland, is a musical inspired by Disney Animation’s “Alice in Wonderland” and is set to debut on May 25. Later in the year, a new nighttime show will be launched in Avengers Campus, featuring projections, music, and special effects woven into a new storyline with Marvel characters, some of which are new to Disneyland Paris. In addition to these entertainment options, the resort’s flagship Disneyland Hotel has recently undergone renovations, and similar upgrades are planned for Disney Davy Crockett Ranch. These refurbishments are part of a comprehensive overhaul of the Disney Village, which will see new retail and dining locations, enhanced landscaping, and modernized facades.
