In other places, people were forced to leave because of fear of illness or because of health hazards and now once-thriving places lay dormant as constant reminders of what has been lost. Abandoned Goldmining Town
If you like visiting and learning about ghost towns, then Bodie’s Ghost Town should probably be one of the first ones on your list. This iconic ghost town is located in California and has become a very touristic place over the years.
Those who have had the chance to see the well-preserved town up close usually feel like they’ve gone a couple of decades back in time. The town was actually once a goldmine during the 19th century but closed down in 1920.
Abandoned Hotel
A building that was once known as one of the most famous hotels in the Croatian Island of Krk, has now become nothing more than ruins. During the 1970s, the hotels were built and catered mainly for millionaires and even billionaires from different countries around the world.
The fancy hotel was doing so well back then that it expanded, thanks to the investment of $45 million of Penthouse magazine. Unfortunately, though, after the Yugoslavian War took over the country, the hotel was completely abandoned and left to rot. Today, it’s a scary attraction for tourists looking for a little adventure in Croatia.

Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose Island has a rich history, and it has served as many things in the past. The place was built around 1857, and During India’s colonial era, Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose Island was home to the British government. Ironically, it also served as a prison during the time.

For people visiting today, it’s still possible to see a number of monumental places like huge swimming pools and other constructions, all completely covered by dense vegetation. Like many places, this site was destroyed during the Second World War, becoming a place that is a must for history lovers from around the world.
