Flashy car

What would you buy if you found a whole bunch of cash? Some would look to purchase a brand new flashy car. Perhaps they would want to flash their newfound money around. But a homeless man or woman would likely be a lot more practical.

Their main worries would be to find a suitable place to live. Getting off the streets would be the first thing on their minds. And maybe taking a nice shower, and having a warm meal or two. Most of us take for granted the simple things we have. But that’s not the case for the homeless.

This story revolves around a man named Kevin Booth, his life events that led him to the point of where he is now. He has been living on the streets for the last few years, trying to get himself back on his feet.

When Kevin is hungry and needs a warm meal to nourish his body, he makes his way to the local food bank. This is a place that has always been there for him at his most difficult times. It’s why he appreciates the food bank so much, and all of the volunteers who take their time to make this place exist.

But one day, what seemed to be another ordinary visit to the food bank, completely changed his life.

She immediately began trying to find him shelter. But you could probably already imagine his reaction to this offer.

Camping out

When people began to approach Kevin, either to thank him or to offer him some type of assistance, he simply told them that he doesn’t want anything in return for the money. He truly believes he did the right thing, and that he couldn’t have possibly kept the money for himself.

But what about the offer for shelter? Well, he refused that offer as well. He says he has a tent that he really enjoys sleeping in.

Help others

He was also offered a bed in a local shelter, which of course he kindly refused. His reasoning that there are so many other people that need help. People that need it way more than him, and he would prefer that they take the space in the shelter rather than him.

Finders keepers

After Kevin gave the money to the food bank manager, she contacted the police to make sure nobody had reported the money missing. After all, she wouldn’t want to use the money that someone was outwardly looking for.

But the local police department informed her that nobody had contacted them in search of the missing cash for over a week. As a result, they were free to use the money to help feed the local community.

Grocery shopping

Once she received the approval of the police, the manager of the food bank made her way to the local grocery store. She began to fill carts full of fresh food to take back to the food bank.

She was so happy to know that thousands of people in need from their community were going to get free meals for the next few months, as a result of the incredibly kind and generous act of Kevin Booth.
