With 2019 coming to a close, it is time to look towards the next decade. April Fools Day, which occurs every year on April 1st, is a time to let your creative genius shine. Everyone likes to play jokes and pranks on one another. These can be simple things like replacing sugar with salt, which makes for a less than delicious morning coffee. Some pranks can be incredibly elaborate and take months of planning, such as using Post-it notes to transform a car into a pixelated wonder completely. Keep scrolling to see some of the most elaborate pranks that you can use as inspiration in preparation for April.
The Jelly Stapler
For those who work in an office environment, you know how frustrating it can be when you can’t find your favorite pen or stapler. Colleagues will often borrow these items and forget to return them.
You can use this absentmindedness by getting very creative with the hiding spot. Jello has the ability to incase almost any object in the gooey substance, and hiding a stapler in there is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Nobody ever thinks to look in the fridge for their missing items.
Cats
There is always that one person in the office who is absolutely obsessed with cats. They have pictures of their cats, a kitten calendar, and the list goes on.
That is why this is a prank that is more kind than anything else. If you know someone loves cats, find some of the cutest cat pictures you can find and paste them all over their cubicle. You may find that they actually leave some of these pictures posted up in their cubicle.
Up In The Air
It seems like offices are places where a variety of pranks occur. Balloons can be used to fill entire rooms, and kids, in particular, like to play with them. It takes a lot of time to fill up hundreds of balloons, especially without the help of helium.
This person managed the job, though, and whoever’s office this is was full to the brim with orange balloons. Hopefully, they thought this was funny rather than annoying and jumped into their office to play with them.
Rat Attack
Pest control is one of those things that nobody ever wants to deal with. Whether it is ants, termites, or vermin like rats, infestations are a nuisance, and can often make a work or living situation extremely uncomfortable.
This employee seemed to know that their co-worker hated rats, which made it the perfect prank. They bought dozens of toy rats, and meticulously placed them all throughout the office to make it look like rats had infiltrated the office. If the co-worker saw this through the window of their office before entering it, then they must have run in the opposite direction.
Look Up
Another classic trick is to make it look like an office or living room is completely empty. This prank takes a lot of planning and tools. You need to stick all of the furniture and objects in the room on the ceiling.
For furniture, this can be a bit tricky because you don’t want to damage anything, but nailing furniture to the ceiling definitely takes some work. We hope this person thought ahead and figured out how to best minimize any damage, while still performing this prank. We bet it took the person whose room this was a long time to look up, and realize all of their personal items were taped to the ceiling.
New Equipment
For anyone who has watched The Office, you will know about the dynamic between Jim and Dwight. These two were always playing pranks on each other, and as the seasons progressed, these pranks became even more elaborate.
This prank is pretty simple; all it calls for is some cardboard and a marker. The cardboard needs to be cut into the shape of a computer, telephone, and any other piece of office equipment. Where you decide to stash the real equipment is up to you. We think that this is the kind of prank that might ruffle a few feathers, but it is ultimately pretty funny.
Where’d The Vespa Go?
Moving cars is pretty difficult, but moving Vespas or motorbikes is a lot easier. They are fairly light and can be wheeled or lifted into all sorts of good hiding places. If you have a friend with a Vespa and you want to cause them some major anxiety, you should definitely consider moving their Vespa from their main parking spot.
They will begin to search high and low looking for it while you get to pretend that you know nothing about it. We think this might be the kind of prank that you eventually have to admit to where you hid the Vespa, or it might never be found again.
The Duct Tape Toilet Paper
Duct tape is one of those things that every person should have in their homes. It has the unique ability to adhere to every surface, which makes it one of those things that can easily fix a leaky pipe or patch up a hole in the wall.
The one thing you probably do not want to use duct tape for is toilet paper, though. It may look like a grey roll of the stuff often found in the bathroom, but getting it to unroll will be the prank here. Someone will definitely need to bring this person a real roll of toilet paper once they realize what the duct tape is.
The New Bathroom
Offices can be turned into a lot of things, but turning one into a bathroom stall is something new. Someone’s colleague decided that they wanted to do something new, and creating a bathroom out of an office is definitely that.
They collected all of the fittings needed for the office and changed the chair and desks into countertops and a toilet. We bet whoever walked into this office thought they had gotten the wrong one.
Nic Cage
Nicolas Cage has to be one of the actors that have had the most memes made about him. With such a large filmography to choose from, it has been easy to find all of the material needed to make people laugh.
One of the most well-known pranks is to place pictures of Nic Cage making funny faces all around someone’s desk or to hide pictures of him in cupboards, or in files so that a surprise Nic Cage moment can occur.
Stay Off The Grass
Keeping lawns green takes a lot of work. The grass needs to be watered, fertilized, and sprayed for pest control. This worker decided that they would cultivate a nice plot of sod to be used for April Fools Day.
After growing the grass for a while, it was ready to be transplanted on to this person’s desk. We think it would probably be pretty nice to rest your arms in the grass while you work on reports. If anything, the extra oxygen produced by the grass will make them feel nice and healthy.
Welcome Home
Most doors have doorbells outside of their front doors. This prank calls for an air horn on the inside of it. This carefully placed air horn will have anyone who swings a door open quickly, pushing the button down and frightening themselves with the sound.
Fight or flight response will probably come into play here, and we hope that this person did not run away and leave their door unlocked. Nobody wants to be robbed after a prank!
Don’t Be Late For Class
High school is a tricky time. You have to learn how to navigate all of the social norms, excel in classes, so you get into a good college, and figure out how to not be late for class when someone creates an elaborate prank.
All of these cups in the hall are filled with water, and if you knock over one, you knock over them all in a domino-like effect. We hope whoever designed this prank had a plan for when water inevitably got everywhere in this hallway.
Burger Or Cupcake?
Hamburgers and cupcakes have to be two of the most delicious foods in the world. If you are a vegetarian, then you definitely do not want to bite into a meaty burger, but these burgers are not quite what they appear to be.
Whoever sat down and thought they were getting lunch, definitely ended up with dessert. These burgers are actually cupcakes, and we have to admit they look very lifelike. This is what we would call a kind prank.
Occupied
When you need to use the restroom, you don’t want to find that it is occupied. This person decided to confuse all of their co-workers by creating a pair of feet inside a bathroom stall.
That meant that every time someone tried to go to the bathroom, they could not. What we want to know is if any desperate soul decided to go and investigate the bathroom to see if it was actually occupied. We really hope nobody had an accident.
Not So Soapy Soap
A lot of people use body wash nowadays, but bar soap is still pretty common. If it is a new bar of soap, you can take some clear nail polish and meticulously coat the soap in it.
Once the soap is dry, you can place it in the shower. Anyone who tries to use the soap will find that it is impossible to get soap soapy. This will be very frustrating, but also very strange for whoever is trying to shower.
The Toilet Paper Prank
Covering an office in Post-it notes is pretty standard, even aluminum foil, but toilet paper is
something else. This is an old classic. Children used to toilet paper houses on holidays like Halloween, but April Fools Day is also a popular one.
Toilet paper is easy to come by, and it can be used to wrap literally every surface to create this papery effect. Removing toilet paper is annoying, and we are sure this person did not enjoy it.
Playing The Long Game
Whenever a carpet needs to be put in, or the floors were redone in a house, the old one must be pulled up. The wooden floor underneath is usually just particle board, and you can paint this if you want.
This person knew that eventually, someone new would buy this house, and pull the carpet up. Knowing that they decided to leave a little surprise for the new owners. Hopefully, they weren’t too terrified by this message.
Don’t Look At Me
Statues in public parks are the ones that always seem to get a makeover. They’re easy to dress up, or in this case, hide completely. This statue looks like they do not want anyone to admire them, and are now hiding behind their makeshift toga.
Whoever thought up this prank was feeling particularly clever. What we want to know is how long the statue managed to stay hidden until the park staff decided to undress him.
The Snake
There are always stories hitting the news about big spiders being found in shipments of exotic fruit, but one thing we rarely hear about is snakes. This enterprising Walmart employee decided to scare the customers in the produce department by hiding a fake snake amongst some cabbages.
Whoever saw the beady-eyed little head poking out probably found themselves running in the opposite direction. Maybe there was a spider hidden in the fruit section just waiting to scare some unsuspecting people as well.
The Smell Of Shrimp
Air freshener is one of those things that most people have in their homes. It can be found in the bathroom or the living room usually. Most people choose floral scents or spices like vanilla to make their homes smell inviting.
The Smell Of ShrimpThere are a lot of aerosol containers that look like an air freshener but are not, such as the smell of shrimp for fishing trips. This stuff, when sprayed, will make a home smell like a fish market, which is a great prank, but a very smelly one.
Saran Wrap
Saran wrap can be used to keep food fresh, and to keep people out of cars. For this prank, you will definitely need a few tubes of saran wrap. Once the car is completely covered, there will be no getting in or out of the vehicle.
This is probably not something you want to try with people who have extremely expensive cars, as they may get a tad annoyed and cut the saran wrap off. Overall, these are all easy pranks to try once April Fools Day rolls around!
A Glass Of Water
Water is one of those things that every person needs to survive. For some kids, they will have a glass of water before going to bed each night. These kids thought that they were in for a regular glass of water until their dad showed up with it in an upside-down cup.
There is no way to drink this water without getting it everywhere, just as the note itself says. These kids probably got soaked, trying to figure out how to drink this.
