35 Times Totally Inedible Things Looked Like Delicious Food

Sometimes we come across things that look like delicious pieces of cake or little candies that we want to enjoy but they are actually something totally inedible. Shops like to sell products that look like food, but are actually something completely different. Have you ever been in a soap store, and seen a soap shaped like a cupcake? Everyday items like this can look and smell like food, but are definitely not something your body will want to digest. Eating soap is not a pleasant experience, even if it does smell like chocolate cake.

Whenever anybody gets very hungry they start to look around for something that can be snacked on. If you’re not in your own home, then you need to be careful. Someone might just try and trick you with a piece of plastic fruit, or some chocolates that are actually shampoo. There are some things you really do not want to eat, and after some careful consideration and a whole lot of research we have found the best examples of things that could be food but totally aren’t. So beware of anything that looks too good to be true when it comes to these almost foods. Your stomach will thank you for thinking before you eat!

After a nice big dinner, the perfect thing to follow it is a piece of cake and a cup of tea. For this person, they stumbled upon a very colorful rock while visiting a friend’s house and they thought it might just be dessert.

Upon closer inspection, it became very obvious that they would not be able to bite into this anytime soon. We have to admit those layers do look like cherry, maybe some marshmallows and best of all, some caramel.


Baking Time


When it comes time to bake a cake you need to make sure that you have all of the ingredients. It usually calls for the normal dry ingredients like flour, sugar, baking soda, and so on. If you are making a big cake then you will need a lot of flour which is why some people keep their flour in larger Tupperware containers or in this case possibly a laundry bin.

Look closely, is that really flour or is it a white cat curled up in a little ball sleeping? The ears and the tiny pink nose give it away. Cats do like to sleep in odd places.

A Pancake Breakfast

Going for a wander in the woods can be a nice relaxing thing to do after a long day in the office. For this wanderer they found themselves seeing a variety of different plants and along the way, they found something that looked exactly like a stack of pancakes.

The only thing that was missing was some warm butter on top of the whole thing. This pancake looking item is actually a pinecone and the butter are some leaves. This person was very creative and decided to capture their achievement in foliage cuisine with this funny picture. We just hope they didn’t try to sample their fare.

Fresh Bread

The smell of fresh bread wafting through a home or a bakery is enough for anybody’s nose to perk up and want to have a slice while it is warm from the oven. If you stare down at what looks like a long piece of baguette you may notice that it lacks a few telltale features.

In fact, upon closer inspection, we detect some whiskers and ears which means that this bread is actually a marmalade colored cat just having a nap in what looks like a flower box. It’s a good thing this owner caught on to what they were seeing and didn’t opt to try a slice.

Popcorn Pebbles

There are all sorts of different beaches, the typical pristine sand ones, shells, black sand, coral and the list goes on. For this beachcomber they found themselves wandering around the area outside of their resort to see what kind of beaches there were for them to swim at.

Eventually, they found themselves surrounded by what looked like swirls of popcorn which turned out to be little white bulbous pebbles. These definitely look good enough to eat.

A Light Latte

Cats seem to be the best animal at disguising themselves as food, probably because they can fit into all sorts of little spaces. For this little one, he once more disguised himself as something to the surprise of his owner.

From above he looks exactly like a milky latte with cinnamon sprinkled on top. It’s only as he peeks up at his owner when he feels him watching that we all realize it’s a cat.

A Snake Snack

A nice bunch of bananas takes some work to find at the supermarket. You need to look them all over to make sure you find some that are just ripe enough and don’t have too many bruises.

This bunch looks like they would be the perfect ones to take home, except for one little thing, they aren’t bananas. It’s actually a bright yellow snake that has camouflage itself. You do not want to grab this snake snack.

All Wrapped Up

Sushi is one of those foods that is always delicious. The seaweed wrapped, rice, and raw fish or veggie rolls are full of nutritional goodness and on top of that when dipped in teriyaki or soy sauce are something you can eat a lot of without realizing it.

This little roll has a bit of a twist though. It seems that the filling of choice here is an exotic bird who has been wrapped up to look like a piece of inari.

Shawarma

Shawarma anyone? Walking down the street this guy couldn’t believe his luck when he saw his favorite take away right there on the sidewalk, however, he was a little disappointed when he reached it.

A handful of jelly beans can really hit the spot or remind you of your favorite Harry Potter franchise characters. This person was out for a stroll on their local beach when they came across some stones which looked startlingly like the candy in question.

The color and the shape truly make them appear that they are some dropped candy ready to be eaten by an unsuspecting child. Hopefully, nobody tried to eat these and broke a tooth.

Tiramisu is impossible to turn down. This Italian cake is full of cream, espresso powder, and delectable ladyfingers that when combined are the perfect dessert. If you look at this outcropping of land you might be confused for a minute since it looks exactly like the dessert in question if it was floating in the middle of a turquoise sea.

For The Meat Lovers

Red meat and in particular ground beef is exactly what any foodie needs to whip up a big pot of chili or some delicious spaghetti Bolognese but we think you would be in for a major disappointment if you bought this.

This stringy looking meat might have the same color and consistency but that’s where it’s meatiness ends. It’s actually the top of a red mop which somebody packaged to make look like meat. We’re not sure about that marketing ploy.

A Glass Of OJ, Please

While some people like coffee, others prefer to start their day off with a nice glass of orange juice. Freshly squeezed is by far the best and for this wife, she saw a glass sitting in her husband’s art studio and was just about to have a quick sip when he said, “Stop!.”

This orange ‘juice’ is actually a glass that has been used to rinse paint brushes which would have made for a not so tasty drink and possibly a toxic one. Good thing he caught her.

A Single Raspberry

Sometimes a raspberry bramble will scrape your leg as you walk by it and then you will notice that lots of little red berries are ripe for the picking. This raspberry though is all by itself and even though its body and the hue are right this will be very juicy if you bite into it and not in a good way.

Pasta Making Time

Uncooked pasta has a tendency to look rather yellow depending on the variety, dry, and very hard. It’s not very tasty until it is cooked but it does store very well. This person pulled out a box of the dry stuff as if they were about to start whipping up some culinary marvels but upon a slightly closer look, this is not pasta.

Death By Chocolate

Children tend to get a bit confused about what you can and cannot eat which one definitely did while walking down the art aisle in a store. Clay comes in all different colors and in all different shapes.

This brown clay seemed to be a chocolate bar and one unsuspecting child decided to try and sneak a quick bite while both his mom and the shop workers had their backs turned. We bet he spit it out right away when he didn’t taste the sugary sweetness.

A Multi-Purpose Mayonnaise

Okay, this one would be confusing for anyone. Mayo is what you put in your sandwiches as a condiment and on your hair as a mask depending on who you talk to. While a cleaning lady was doing her job she stumbled across this container which looks exactly like a regular mayo one and decided it should be refrigerated.

Bacon Pick-Up

Who doesn’t love bacon? It’s the kind of breakfast food which has everyone sniffing the air in anticipation as soon as it starts sizzling. The smell wafts through any home or restaurant and makes whoever smells it ready to eat it, unless you are a vegetarian or vegan of course.

What’s funny though is that these giant pieces of bacon are slices of a tree. The grain of the wood looks exactly like the line of fat on bacon.

A Pie For The Table

Freshly baked pie is another treat most people can’t say no to but this snow pie definitely doesn’t have the same warm and fruity combination you expect from a normal one. The snow has landed and fallen through the metal grating to make a pillowy looking pastry pie.

This would be a fun one for kids to play with as they can pretend to cut slices and just turn them into snowballs for an epic showdown.

It would seem like many rocks have a tendency to look like food which can be pretty confusing for the person who happens upon them. In another case of rock versus bread, we come across what looks like a dinner roll.

An ice cream cone topped with a swirl of vanilla really hits the spot on a hot summer day, especially if it is then dipped in some chocolate sauce. When this person looked at the snow in their backyard they noticed that the snow that had fallen in the night had actually created perfect swirls on top of some tree stumps.

Beautiful Broccoli

Broccoli is not everyone’s favorite of vegetables but it is undeniable that this tree resembles a giant piece of broccoli studded in florets of the green stuff. The angle it is growing at gives it even more of an appearance of it.

When summer gets into full swing and the heat from the sun starts beating down on humans and animals it can create a very sweaty situation. For this one pet owner, their dog absolutely adored sunning itself on their lawn but one day it got a little bit too toasty.

Normally it would lay about and pant in the sun but it seems it got a little bit too hot and it curled up into the shape of a rotisserie chicken. The coloring of the dog just adds to the overall effect, especially with its little paws up in the air like a pair of chicken wings.
