The Top Picnic Spots In Berlin

Now that Spring is finally in the air… it is almost time to get out that checkered blanket, pack a picnic and hit the park or the abandoned airport for a nice picnic. Here in Berlin, there are many excellent spots to lay your blanket down, sit back, grab some cheese and have a nice glass of wine. But where should you have your picnic?
Tempelhof Park
Tempelhof Park is a local favorite, it is actually the site of an old airport that has been converted into a green space to be used by the public. If you just want to set up with your blanket and basket go for it, or if you have brought a grill you can head to one of the sections that allow for it. There are also a variety of community gardens for you to wander through.

Tiergarten
Tiergarten is essentially Berlin’s version of New York City’s Central Park. The Victory Column is situated in it, as well as a little island called Luiseninsel. There are a variety of areas in this one where many different sports take place, such as cycling so you may want to head over to the island for a more relaxed vibe, or over to one of the beer houses.
Görlitzer Park
This park is a little more, shall we say avant-garde than the rest. It is the kind of park where pretty much anything goes and locals tend to flock to it. There tends to be a lot of street art, so if you like graffiti this is the park for you. You can set up camp and have a lively people watching session.

Schlosspark Charlottenburg
If you are looking for a spot to take in some natural beauty, and some architecture then this is the ideal picnic spot. Situated right behind Charlottenburg Palace picnickers have a lot of sites to take in. You can sip some tea and eat some scones all while looking at the palace gardens and pretend for a few minutes that you have stepped back in time. This is an excellent date spot for the romantically inclined.
Grunewald
This park is a bit out of the city, but worth the travel time if you want to get away from the city and be right in a forest. You can hike out to a secluded spot with a view of the Havel River or the Wannsee Lake. This is definitely a picnic spot for someone who is looking to get away from it all and commune with nature.
