DIY a Customized, Easy-to-Clean Cat Litter Box
In this engaging DIY project, we’ll guide you through creating a spacious cat litter box using a Tupperware bin, a low-edged dishpan, and a pad to catch the stray litter. Materials: Large Tupperware bin (with a lid, if preferred); Low-edged dishpan; Non-slip pad or rug (for litter-catching); Permanent marker; Utility knife or box cutter; Sandpaper (optional).
Instructions: Choose a large Tupperware bin that will comfortably accommodate your cat’s size; Using a permanent marker, draw a U-shaped opening on one of the longer sides of the Tupperware bin to serve as the entryway for your cat; Carefully cut along the marked lines with a utility knife or box cutter to create the entryway; Place the low-edged dishpan inside the Tupperware bin and set a non-slip pad or rug in front of the entryway of the litter box to catch any excess litter; Introduce your cat to their new, customized litter box, and give them some time to explore and become comfortable with the new setup.
Make use of a pheromone diffuser
Stress can also be experienced by cats, who release pheromones when they are stressed. Your cat may be stressed by a move or the introduction of a new cat. To keep their cats healthy, owners must find ways to decrease their cat’s stress levels.
A pheromone diffuser can be a great way to reduce stress in your cat. You want your cat to be happy and healthy. The diffuser emits vapors that are similar to feline facial hormones, which help cats relax.
Reduce litter box odor using green tea or baking soda
It is important to train your cat on how to use the toilet. Ensure that your cat doesn’t excrete in unwelcome places, such as in corners of your house or clothing. You are responsible for ensuring their litter box is empty after they have been trained. You must empty them immediately after they are full.
If the litter is not removed properly, it can cause your home to smell bad. To reduce the smell, you can add baking soda and pieces of green tea leaves to the litter box. This will eliminate the unpleasant odor at home.
Two are better than one
Cats may appear to be independent, but they are social and loving animals. Cats are more comfortable with other pets around them. Stress can be a problem for lonely cats, so make sure your cat has someone to play with when you are gone.
It is unlikely that a busy cat will be destructive. It is important to have company when your cat is around. This will prevent them from damaging your belongings. If you are looking for a companion for your senior cat, consider adopting a kitten. The adult cat can train the kitten this way.
